Adrian and I often talk about If something ever happens to me... We tell each other what we’d want, should one of us die and the other survive. Typically, we talk about obvious things like where we’d want the kids to spend the rest of their growing up years, wanting the kids to spend time with their grandparents, and what kind of education we’d want the kids to have. The other night, however, Adrian had something different on his mind.
“Beck, if something ever happens to me, promise me that you’ll teach the boys to not spit on the sidewalk and to thank people if they hold the door for them. I hate that, when men spit on the sidewalk and when I hold a door for someone and they don’t say anything!” This was said in all seriousness.
I couldn’t help but smile as I made that promise.
And…if anything ever happens, I will have to remember those two important lessons.
