As I continue my journey, I will try to adopt (and make habit) the second character trait of the Proverbs 31 Woman.
Proverbs 31:11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.
The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
According to Webster’s Dictionary, trust means: assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.
According to the Free Dictionary, safely means: Free from risk; sure: a safe bet.
Does my husband truly trust me? Does he trust that I am able to do the God-given tasks that I have been given as his wife and as the mother of our children? Do I show him, though my behavior, that I am able to handle all of the responsibility that, as a wife and mother, is mine? Do I show him that, in choosing me to be his wife, he made a wise decision?
So he will have no lack of gain.
According to Dictionary.com gain means: to improve; make progress; advance.
Have I improved my husband’s life? Have I supported him and helped him to progress in life – in his walk with Christ, in his career, in his personal life? Have I added more to his life?
As I look at verse 11, I am called to look at myself. Who am I, as a wife? Do I make my husband’s life easier? Am I lifting him up and helping him to be successful in all that he is called to be? By lifting my husband to be the man that God wants him to be, I will be lifting my family to be the family that God wants us to be.
